Emailing a Report with Webmail & Windows XP and Office 2003

Webmail is used through a browser like Internet Explorer and comes in many varieties, e.g., AOL, Gmail, Hotmail, and MSN. You cannot use Microsoft's built in mailing feature in Excel or Word with webmail but it is easy nonetheless to attach a report to an email. First, save the report.

Save the Report to the Desktop

With the report open, in this example the Station Roster in Excel, click on File | Save As...

The quickest way to get to the Desktop is to click the Desktop shortcut in the left panel. Then click Save .

Alternatively, click on the little arrow on the right of the 'Save in' field so that you can see your computer contents and select Desktop off the list of locations that drops open. Then click Save .

Attach the Report to Your Webmail Email Message

In the File Upload window, either click on the Desktop button or click on the little arrow on the right of the 'Look in' field so that you can see your computer contents and select the Desktop off the list of locations that drops open. Then click Open .

Select the report, here it is Station Roster.xls. You will see the file name in the slot. Click Open .

Now your email is ready to be completed and sent with the report attached.
